Training Development
At Bakkavör we fully support and encourage our employees to enhance their personal development and careers within the business. The nature of the culture at the Group is an informal one within a decentralised business structure. As such we tend to attract people who are self-starters with a can-do attitude. Much work has been conducted to ensure that strong functional and professional training and development is offered, alongside an established succession planning process, allowing our people to be recognised, rewarded and promoted within the Group.
Our bespoke fast-track programme, Accelerated Management Scheme (AMS), provides current employees and new graduates with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in real jobs, coupled with supportive training and mentoring. Participants in the scheme have the opportunity to specialise in one of the six core areas of strategic importance to the business: Manufacturing, Product Development, Technical (Food Safety), Produce (Procurement), Purchasing and Finance. The AMS programme has been designed to ensure that a succession of bright and talented people of graduate calibre are nurtured across the Group.
In 2007 we recruited 29 AMS Trainees and we aim to recruit another 35 in 2008. According to a well respected UK recruitment agency’s survey, Bakkavör Group is now the largest recruiter of graduates in the UK food industry.
