Job Families

Much work has been done at Bakkavör to ensure that the Bakkavör values are incorporated into every role and that every role has its own place in a job family. This not only allows us to recruit new people and monitor performance against common standards but to facilitate the development of a career path within each family.

Admin & Clerical Support

The roles within this family are key to the organisation, departments and managers. Secretaries and administrative staff have a central and key role to play within any team. Confident, professional communication at all levels is required. To be truly successful it is necessary to plan, be organised and proactively support your manager and/or team in the most effective way.

Purchasing

Careers in purchasing offer individuals a varied role working within a flexible structure, which enables you to influence how buying is carried out. There are roles at business unit level up to Group level, as well as involvement in category purchasing across the Group.

Development

Bakkavör launches around 600 new products each year and keeping abreast of food trends is key to maintaining our leadership position in fresh prepared foods - the fastest-growing sector of the food market.

Development at Bakkavör is all about innovation - from "blue sky" product concept ideas through to packaging, ingredients and processes. Being a 'foodie' goes without saying, but alongside that you will require sound presentation and negotiating skills, the ability to work effectively against tight deadlines, whilst maintaining high culinary standards and enthusing your customers and team.

Engineering

Bakkavör is growing very rapidly and provides exciting challenges for Engineers, both in the UK and Continental Europe. From new product development where we could be launching up to 600 new products each year to the new business start-ups that we "Engineer" every year, engineers are there at the forefront, ensuring that Bakkavör can deliver to its customers.

Finance

As a fast-moving business, control skills are important to our success, and as such Finance plays a key role in ensuring that each business unit contributes to the overall success of the Group.

Human Resources

People are seen as the Group's most important asset and they give us a competitive advantage. The HR Teams sit within each of the businesses and ensure that we have an informed, motivated and skilled workforce who reflect the values of the Company and as a result are able to meet our strategic demands.

Information Technology

This promises to be both the most challenging and most exciting time for Information Systems in Bakkavör since the formation of the business! Challenging, due to the demands being placed on IT by the rest of the business. Exciting, because of the number of new projects, processes and people that we will be working with throughout the next few years.

Supply Chain

Supply chain management encompasses the important task of co-ordination and decision-making across organisational boundaries. It is an outgrowth of an organisation’s realisation that the efficiency of individual business units alone is insufficient for maintaining competitiveness in today's business climate.

Case Study - Jamie McCullough, Warehouse Systems Manager

Technical

Bakkavör supplies safe, quality food to its customers. Food Safety is at the core of our success. Our Technical Management Structure enables us to work with customers, consumers and Government to ensure our Company and our industry operates to the highest standard. Technical roles cover a wide range of opportunities.

Case Study - Ramesh Patel, Food Safety Manager

General Management

The General Management structure is seen as a major factor that has contributed to the success of Bakkavör. Whether you are responsible for running your own business unit or a number of business units, your role will be to drive that business forward, always on the look out for the next new business opportunity. These positions run real profit centres and as such would be designated Managing Directors in many organisations.

General Managers and Business Directors need to be able to demonstrate sound knowledge in their specialist area, but more than that they must have a spark that makes them stand out from everyone else - be able to see opportunities before the rest, have a vision of where to take the business next, and be able to lead their team to achieve spectacular success sometimes against the odds.
